This pendant has been lovingly handmade in New Zealand. All of the handmade pieces are crafted by artists in New Zealand chosen for their skill, creativity, and experience. Each piece is made from high quality metals, and materials which are natural to New Zealand. Each individual handmade piece can take several hours for the artist to create. Pounamu or nephrite jade is found in the rivers of the South Island in New Zealand. It has a very important cultural significance to Maori who believed that Pounamu absorbs the ‘mana’ or spiritual power of its wearer. Maori also used Pounamu to make tools, ornaments and weapons. |
